Prof. Dr. -Ing. Arno Bergmann

Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Bochum University of Applied Science, Germany

Arno Bergmann received the Dipl.-Ing. Degree and the Dr.-Ing. from Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), Bochum, Germany, in 2000 and 2010, respectively. He worked as Engineer at FRABA Encoder GmbH, Cologne, Germany from 2000 to 2004 and at FRABA INTACTION GmbH, MST. Factory Dortmund, Germany from 2004 to 2006. During 2006-2009, he worked as General Manager at FRABA CENTICODE GmbH, Cologne, Germany, while he worked as Project Manager at Smart Mechatronics GmbH, Dortmund, Germany and at Lachmann & Rink GbmH, Freudenberg, Germany during 2009-2010 and 2010-2013, respectively. Since 2013 Bergmann has been a lecturer who is an expert in Technical Simulation and Electrical Drives in Bochum University of Applied Science, Bochum, Germany.

Prof. Dr. -Ing. Ralph Schmidt

Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Esslingen University of Applied Science, Germany

Ralph Schmid received the Dipl.-Ing. Degree and the Dr.-Ing. from University Stuttgart, Germany, in 1993 and 1999, respectively. He worked as Development Engineer at Dr.Johannes Heidenhain GmbH, Germany from 1999 to 2003, at TZ Mikroelektronik, Germany from 2004 to 2006, at Gebr. Heller Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Germany from 2006 to 2010, and at SBLiMotive, Germany from 2010 to 2011. Since 2011 Schmidt has been a Professor at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Esslingen University of Applied Science, Germany.

Prof. Dr. Magín Lapuerta

University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain

Academic degrees and positions:

Magín Lapuerta is Professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, since 1995. Previously, he was assistant professor at the University Politécnica de Valencia, also in Spain. He has led the Fuels and Engines Group since its foundation in 1996. The research lines of this group are mainly focused on diesel combustion and emissions, with particular attention to the effect of the use of residual and renewable fuels from different feedstocks on the engine gaseous and particulate emissions. He spent a sabbatical year in the Pennsylvania State University, USA (2010-2011), another half-sabbatical at the Combustion Research Laboratory (University of Toronto, Canada), and a six-month stage in CETAM (Centro de Tecnologías Ambientales, Valparaíso, Chile). He has advised 12 doctoral theses, presented more than 80 congresses, published 125 scientific articles in international journals, collaborated with around 60 companies in the area of fuels and engines and received funds from 25 competitive projects from institutions. He was awarded with the prize from Castilla-La Mancha government to the technological innovation in 2005. He is member of the Spanish Scientific Committee for standardization in Fuels and Lubricants (AENOR) and of the Biofuels Committee from the Spanish Association of Renewable Energy Producers (APPA).

Prof. Dr. -Ing. Juergen van der List

Former President Esslingen University of Applied Science, Germany

 Juergen van der List received the Dipl.-Ing. Degree and the Dr.-Ing. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Technical University Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1970 and Technical University Berlin, Berlin, Germany, in 1976, respectively. Also, he received the Dr. h.c. Degree from Technical University Moscow Aviation Institute, Moscow, Russia, in 1999. He worked as Scientific Assistant in Feedback-Control Systems at Technical University Berlin during 1970-1974 and at Heinrich-Hertz-Institute, Berlin, during 1974-1978. During 1978-1981, he worked at Research-Institute of Steel-Industry, Duesseldorf, Germany. Since 1981 he had worked as Professor at Esslingen University of Applied Science; during 1987-1995 he became the Dean of the Faculty of Electronics/Microelectronics; and during 1995-1997 he was the Vice President and from 1977 – 2008 President of the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. After that until 2012, van der List was the Head of the Steinbeis-Transfer-Center of Microelectronics, which he founded in 1991. His current activities are: Consultant of the Steinbeis-Transfer-Center of Microelectronics, Advisor of GRUPO BOCAR in Mexico, Advisor of King Mongkut’s University of North Bangkok in Thailand, and Advisor of Department of Mechanical Engineering at TEC de Monterrey in Mexico.
